    Turkey Dinner

The Forbes Road School District held a turkey dinner and bake sale on Sunday, May 23rd, to help support Bryan and Rita Kling financially.  Over 475 meals were sold during this time.  We want to offer a huge thank you to everyone who helped make this possible.  It would not have been possible without the tremendous support of the faculty, staff, and their families donating their time.  Also, thank you to everyone who purchased a meal. We hope you enjoyed it.  Thank you to the Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Company for providing traffic control.  Bryan, our thoughts and prayers are with you as you recover.  Rita, we love you and miss seeing you at school!

    NHS Pie in the Face

The Forbes Road National Honor Society held a “Pie In The Face” contest to help raise funds for the Kling family.  The five elementary and high school teachers who had the most money in their jars were selected for this event.  At the elementary school, one pie was received by Mr. Thomas, Mrs. Wilkins got two pies to the face, Mr. Hull - three, Mrs. Harne – four, and Mrs. King a sweet five pies!  At the High School, Mr. Oswald – one, Mrs. Zinobile – two, Mr. Heath – three, Mr. Horton – four, and Miss Brown – five.  Students’ names were drawn randomly from SOAR tickets to get the chance to pie the faculty and staff.  We thank faculty and staff for being good sports and their willingness to be put into this “sticky situation.”  Thank you for all the contributions!

    Forbes Road Students Donate

Kids have ideas.  Sometimes they are good ideas, and sometimes we question them.  A few months ago, a couple of 5th-grade boys at Forbes Road Elementary had a brilliant idea.  Calan Gress and Blake Grandi asked if students paid a dollar, could they wear a hat on Fridays?  They approached the district principal, Ramonda Zinoble, about their idea, and she challenged them.  They were to come up with something to do with the money that would make a difference.  Mrs. Zinoble asked them to talk to family and friends and decide what that would be.  After countless discussions between the boys, their families and friends, they came up with Adley’s Adventure.

On February 10, 2022, young Adley Gordon was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.  Since then, Adley and her parents, Chad, a 2001 graduate of Forbes Road, and Kira, along with her brother, Mayze have made countless trips to Hershey for treatment.  No one should have to battle cancer, let alone a child.  Someone once said, “Sometimes real superheroes live in the hearts of small children fighting big battles.”  Adley is certainly one of those real-life superheroes.

On Friday, May 26th Calan and Blake were able to present Adley and her mom, Kira, with a check for $450.  Thanks to the hearts of these boys and the boys and girls of Forbes Road Elementary, they were able to help ease some of the financial burdens this wonderful family is facing.

I’m sure if you ask Calan and Blake if they are happy they were able to wear their hats on Fridays, they would say yes, but the lesson they learned from giving gave them more happiness.

To the Gordon family, the entire Forbes Road Cardinal family has you in our thoughts and prayers.
